Utterly fascinating. I’ve always loved Shostakovich’s music but I’m taken aback by hard it was for him to write it and be truthful to himself without ending up in a labor camp or shot.

Finally started the second novel. Not only has Peake found his voice and particular tenor with this work (I have been laughing out loud and was moved to tears last night) but the plot is beginning to pick up and I cannot wait to see where it all goes!
