i do wholeheartedly and genuinely thing that everyone in the world should read much more Jane Austen (including me), her writing is so very, very enjoyable, this book is a blast

not the "being forced to live in my castle is just as bad a fate as those of the prisoners being kept in tiny stinking cells" kind of princess nah girl

oh my god so much in this doesn’t make sense it’s infuriating

okay so the worldbuilding is confusing, the main character is snoozy, the writing style is SO bland, the dialogues are cringe and i'm already bored.

this whole plot is feeling more and more pointless, lihe why would you introduce a conflict as big and dramatic as a whole damn WAR only for it to be resolved in 2 chapters by no actions of the characters whatsoever?? like what was that good for, then.

yeah right get rid of the only character i care about for NO GOOD REASON boo

the scribe is my favourite guy, he's so snarky

i forgot that i dislike all of these characters (except for Simon, he's okay)
