Getting close to finishing several biggies, so let's start this major one. Always loved the film so let's hit the Grasssss.

Chaotic hijinks on a transatlantic passenger liner. The Marx Brothere' "Monkey Business" was way better.

If this had been written in the 1960s or early 1970s, instead of in 1985, it would have been filmed by 1980, no doubt. Today's timid Hollywood doesn't have the cajones or the talent to pull it off.

Almost back to base camp with this one. Another great mountaineering read.

Much better book than I expected. Much better.

Unfunny hijinks with mistaken corpses now, trying to circle back to some stuff from 750 pages ago when the novel was good and was getting five stars from me but has spectacularly flamed out in crash-and-burn heap in a way I have never experienced in 60 years of reading.

This book is a lot better than I expected, even with the strange "hand-off" style between DeWalt's contextual third-person blocks of text alternating with Boukreev's translated first-person reminiscences. It's not as jarring as it could be.
