Been playing a lot of chess over the last few weeks instead of reading so I figured I’d combine the two and actually get some chess studying done.

I was in the middle of reading this last year when the news about Munro came out, and with some of the mother-daughter themes in the book, reading it left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. It still does, but I think her work is worth reading, and I think I’m able to read it with a less immediately visceral reaction

This is stressful

it’s structured more like Pulp Fiction than Reservoir Dogs, but the title reference is still apt in a vibes-based way

This is an addictive page-turner

Liu Bei keeps spamming the same tactic

Why is everything a 10 page monologue

re-reading this in English this time

Just finished book 1. It’s pretty good though I think perhaps all the dream stuff is a little lost on me. Seems an unfocused part of an otherwise fairly simple book. But maybe I’m just imposing an arbitrary limit on what the book is about

Gonna try and finally get back into this and finish it.

The audio is very helpful when using this as a study tool

The middle of this book is so fun that i’m kinda mad that all the stuff is starting to happen

Much darker than i expected since all the reviews on the cover are talking about her stories leaving them “silly with admiration and delight”

People will recommend something to you with “i had a good day reading this” and you check it out and find that it takes you an entire evening to read like two of the essays. How are these guys reading so fast

Not really a huge fan of these books that are a collection of interviews but it’s kinda cool
