I have never really thought about the Romantics in any level of detail and this book is stamping me with all of the author's firm opinions.

My holds came free in such a way that I've now read way too many books about the royal families of England and France in the medieval period and the renaissance in way too short of a period of time. I am totally sick of the topic. I'm going to get through this one and then no more.

I have never once thought before while peeing that I'm "emptying my pelvis" but this book has used that conceit more than once. I worry that this is the one thing about this book that is going to stick with me.

I know it's a bad idea to read pop science books about things I work on professionally, but I thought this would be far enough away from my field and I wanted to learn more of the history. It's way too close and it's too old. I keep arguing with this perfectly fine book in my head because I don't agree with interpretations of studies I've read or because something is oversimplified or out of date.
