The problem with this series is that we almost never see the most interesting scenes which go down in the background. The idea of nyphron having tea with Jared is taking me out, I’ve been utterly robbed of seeing that go down

So far the “forgiveness” situation isn’t as moralizing as I was dreading that it might be, but as much as I do believe in forgiveness I’m having a hard time reconciling the idea of forgiving someone because you have no right to judge them… like, if you have decided that there is a hurt to forgive then doesn’t that mean you judged that they did something wrong in the first place

The “linguistics” in this series is driving me insane because it depends on rhunic being English in its verbal form but with a completely different alphabet, etymology (of most or all words), and general history. For me this is super aggravating: either use the irl version accurately or make up something fully original, I hate these bastardizations

Edvard the Gula may be the most minor background character to finally be named but the only thing we ever learn he did (besides get killed) is badass AND satisfying. Go Edvard

I love both Gwen and Royce separately and they should be a super cute couple (two grab-the-bull-by-the-horns powerhouses who get shy and tongue-tied around each other should be unbelievably adorable) but all their interactions are written painfully heavy-handedly and now this book is introducing frustrating miscommunication tropes that are just barely being fended off by Hadrian’s efforts at facilitating

Honestly we didn’t get to see him outside of his kids’ memories in the original series so I didn’t have an opinion on him but now I’m already thinking amrath deserved way better too

Honestly Alric + Mauvin+ Fannen are so cute even as bratty tweens, they deserved so much better smh
