Finding out from Rachel Kushner’s wonderful intro for this edition that Bachmann was really into Wittgenstein helped everything fall into place. Her style makes so much more sense to me now.

Maybe this just isn’t for me. Having such a hard time with it.

Starting this again now that i have my own copy. Still peeved i had to return it to the library and i can’t remember where i stopped so I’m just starting from the beginning.

These last couple pages were so visceral. I got so antsy reading them. Thinking a lot about aura and video technology and the shopping mall and academia.

absolutely nauseated that she wrote this at 23. it’s like she’s seeing into my brain.

it’s hard to read slowly but i really want to take the opportunity to absorb this prose because my god is she just a genius. no one’s writing has ever been more compelling to me.

i’m so stupidly excited for this. thought i was going to try another author and wait but i’m so infatuated w her that i can’t be patient.

this is kind of becoming a chore. but i’m gonna finish it for posterity’s sake. thought this was going to be a fun break but i’m actually just exhausted with fiction about this point in time in america it tends to be all the same when it’s about two girls going to fucking barnard or whatever.
