I just really need someone else to read this so we can talk about it cause my goodness it’s rich

“Here we are at last, here is the secret we have been waiting for since the Sermon on the Mount began. Here is the crucial question - has Jesus known us or not?” pg 195

“If ever you decided that anything you are or have done makes you good, you’re deceived. And the deceived tend to think so highly of their own selves that they move toward death daily, full of pride and self-righteousness, while God stands with two nail-torn palms, waiting for them to come. It’s interesting that “obvious sinners” can be closer to the kingdom than those raised near it.” pg 104

“He knows that he owes his very life to One, who though he was his enemy, treated him as a brother and accepted him, who made him his neighbor, and drew him into fellowship with himself. The disciple can now perceive that even his enemy is the object of Gods love, and that he stands like himself beneath the cross of Christ.” Pg 150

Getting wrecked in the best way. Have to take it in pieces.

“If our Christianity has ceased to be serious about discipleship, if we have watered down the gospel into emotional uplift which makes no costly demands and which fails to distinguish between natural and Christian existence, then we cannot help regarding the cross as an ordinary everyday calamity, as one of the trials and tribulations of life” pg 89

“Unbelief thrives on cheap grace, for it is determined to persist in disobedience.” pg 68

“The only safe evidence that we are in Christ is a holy life. True faith will always show itself by its fruit. John said everyone who has within him the hope of eternal life purifies himself just as Christ is pure (1 John 3:3). If we know nothing of holiness, we may flatter ourselves that we are Christians but we do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.”

Reading this as a part of advent and am blown away by how simple, yet rich it is. Points to the gospel in every page.
