Marissa > Recent Status Updates

This isn’t really feeling like a Marissa Meyer book. The characters are so surface level and I don’t feel any connection to any of them. I think this could have benefited from one POV instead of 4. The chapters read fast but the pacing feels kind of slow. I just not sure about this one…

I can sense the magic that is surely going to come and I see what she’s trying to do, but the focus on the anxiety is constant in almost every sentence and I’m so sad to say that I’m not loving it 🥺

I’m liking this much more than I expected, but I also feel like I’m not getting enough ‘then’ or enough ‘now’…like everything is in a big hurry and we’re not sitting in it. Instead we’re rushing from one extreme emotion to the next. We’re missing all of the sweet moments, the in-between. I want more than just a moment that moves the plot…

Hoping this book doesn’t suffer from my Silverborn book hangover 😵 the reviews are definitely a bit harsh, but I do like Haley and I’m curious, so I hope it’s better and sweeter than I’m expecting!
