I’m so sad because I was so excited for this book, but I’m considering DNFing. I’ve been trying to get better about just letting go of books when I’m not enjoying them, but I REALLY wanted to like this one.

I was so excited for this book but the main character is that bland sort of quirky, tough queer woman who thinks about sex and killing stuff or whatever caricature that comes from wanting to create a gritty setting without actually knowing how to build realistic characters within that setting. Hope that makes sense. I’m annoyed already.

An Long makes himself so hard to like early in the book the only thing saving him is my knowledge that he wholeheartedly is the stupidest smart person alive. Zero critical thinking skills in this bitch. Has not occurred to him once that the guy who was literally trafficked into sexual slavery might have been there against his will. Literally no thoughts other than his poorly disguised crush.
