Ch 16 & 17 are a bit of a drag. Very technical capital investment stuff. 18 is going well! Focused on lawsuits the GE faced. Jack approaches all of GE’s turmoil and bad decisions with integrity and honesty.

Well written with humility, love for family, and appreciation for all who cross paths with him

Look, I love the girl power but it is SO UNREALISTIC and makes no sense that this band of girls would be titled at the Blood Rite. Them surviving is a rare occurrence. Only 12 Illyrian in the past 100 years made it to the base of Ramiel, but these 3 girls did. Against Illyrian who have trained their ENTIRE LIVES vs girls who trained a year. Makes no sense. They weren’t even that good in training.

I’m over him feeling ashamed over every small thing

My perception of Gandhi based on the movie has changed quite a bit from his narrative… he no longer seems quite as ideal…

The amount of “vulgar gestures” that are mentioned within the last 5 pages are terrible. I do not need to know on every page that the MC made a vulgar gesture to her friend. Why is that important???

Jest’s death makes NO SENSE. You’re telling me one of the White Queen’s main soldiers — the one she trusted and sent on a mission, the one equal to the executioner — died to a crazy man swinging an axe around?? You’re telling me the one who can shapeshifter and fight a whole Jabberwock? Who can dodge attacks w graceful cartwheels? Bad execution if you ask me.

“I quite agree that the Christian religion is, in the long run, a thing of unspeakable comfort. But it does not begin in comfort; it begins in the dismay I have been describing, and it is no use at all trying to go on to that comfort without first going through that dismay”

Moral Law is different from instinct but there seems to be a right.

“You probably want to be safe much more than you want to help the man who is drowning: but the Moral Law tells you to help him all the same” - Mere Christianity

This is hard to stick with... might DNF soon

"I don't want her to live like I lived. I don't want her to see her father at his worst. I don't want her to see him when he loses his temper with me to the point that she no longer recognizes him as her father. Because no matter how many good moments she might share with Ryle throughout her lifetime, i know from experience that it only be the worst ones that stuck" (360)
