“There were many so moved by the sufferings of the slaves that they had long ceased to drink coffee, thinking of it drenched with the blood and sweat of men turned into brutes.”

proving that the desire to want human rights and end to violent atrocities is not a radical new-age thought, and one does not have to position Grand Persons strictly in their periods. context can be used in plenty cases but not in human brutality & barbarism. all words used to describe unconsciously ousted their awareness of such. yet, for continued economic prosperity, all were blind even Friends of the Negro lmao

rooney can freeze a feeling and translate it to words, thawing it across pages. i thought i would hate the irregular tenses & inconsistencies of traditional grammar but i am finding comfort in it. it is different than knowing the emotion and knowing the conversation. simultaneously both are expressed?

wilderson is fleshing out the link between jouissance of capable actors and social death of its black victims. i am enthralled at how well he writes into the meta-theory of afropessimism seamlessly with anecdotes of his quite fascinating young adult adventures.

Simple, direct, and clinically appropriate. Focuses on necessities to provide anesthesia and saves the complexities for other garbled books. Great for introduction of anesthesia.

A bit repetitive, and it is not successful in efforts to delimitate his assertions. I do think it is possible to theorize and not rely on the same few words to remind readers that it is a theory. I did not like Lorca’s chapter as much as the previous, but onward we go.

I almost threw the book at the wall and screamed from how good it tasted on the brain. Had no idea there would be a dedicated section to negro nurses, in particular Salaria Kea; however, the exploration and record-tracking to her legacy was so so so so good. A pristine example of “when you record data, ask who was the recorder?”.

reading about abusive & neglectful parental trauma is especially difficult when the author’s mother has the same name as yours, same spelling and all. same tendencies albeit mine was not a crackhead.
