ugh every time I read this it pulls at my heart in weird ways. My mom was the same age as marjane during the revolution so I see a lot of these experiences through my mom’s eyes and I want to cry. It’s hard to read this re-telling of your country’s history especially during a time like this when Iran is going through another revolution. My heart hurts for my mom and my dad and everything they endured

Every time I start this book I get 30% through and I start uncontrollably sobbing. The first time was in high school when I illegally downloaded a pdf version and kept it on my laptop lol. I tried again in college but couldn’t. I have the hard copy now though so here we go again. Given the current climate and also how I’ve been feeling idk how this will go but let’s see

Girl why the fuck am I reading this… it is not good but I feel like I have to do it for my culture😀 I have so many thoughts but first of all who is her target audience??? Bc thank god I know Farsi or else I’d be so lost. It feels like she wrote this just for Iranian people (which is fine) but I don’t think that was her goal? Idk I’m just waiting for the smut

I gave all the other books in this series a 3.75 so this will probably be getting that rating too
