Consequently atheism turns out to be too simple. If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be a word without meaning.
THIS BOOK MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. IT IS BLOWING MY MIND AND I LOVE IT 😁

My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I gotten this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?
It’s been surprisingly refreshing to be reading about Christianity from the pov of a former Atheist! And once again, the imagery 🥰

Inching along slowly, but we’re getting there! School has definitely caused me to get behind on my reading 😫 I had such a good pace going over the summer!!

God is the only comfort, He is also the supreme terror; the thing we most need and the thing we most want to hide from. He is our only possible ally, and we have made ourselves His enemies. Some people talk as if meeting the gaze of absolute goodness would be fun. They need to think again. Goodness can be the great safety or the great danger- according to the way you react to it. And we have reacted the wrong way.

The imagery of this book makes it so easy to understand. I’m no baby Christian or anything, but I’m glad I started reading this because I believe I could use a refresh on the basic beliefs of Christianity, and CS Lewis breaks them down piece by piece, but also teaches you new things all the while 🤭
