Even though this was published in 2009, most if not all of the lessons still apply in today’s context. I’m glad to have picked this book up as I prep for the next teaching career 😊 I resonated with what many teachers felt in the book.

Reading her reflections thus far resonated deeply with me. It's thought-provoking how she shares about what it means to take on the persona of being a voiceless woman or as she puts it, "[...} There was no work words could do for me, & so I had no words. [...] I erased myself as much as possible because to be was to be a target." (59)
