It took me a bit to figure out that every time they teach you something, they implement an example of it in the next chapter. They don't outright say this, I believe. I thought that was clever. It's a lot about theoretical books, which I don't read much, but entertaining and valuable nonetheless.

I love it so far. I love the themes of mortal agency vs. divine will. It adds to the tragedy: the mortals think they're making free choices, but they're really not.

I love the soft, tender moments between the brutal fights. I love the depiction of friendship, loyalty, and family.

Aphrodite is awful. But I love that the goddess of love and sex can be cruel and manipulative. Homer knew love isn't innocent.

Okay, I get it, they're both supposed to be hot. But 3 sex scenes right after another? Bored.

I really don't like how she connects being a wild woman to having ovaries. I get its a book from the early 90s but it feels wrong. I also don't really like how she repeats herself constantly, taking 30 pages to make one point. I'm curious if it gets better since I had such high hopes.
