Masks are still masks, no matter how tightly glued on

Jaws birthed an entire generation terrified of the water and gave them a fear they’ll carry with them forever.A low-budget horror movie made one of the greatest directors of all time a household name. Speaking of low-budget, Rocky, a monumental franchise to just about anyone with eyeballs, was only made for a million dollars and went on to win Best Picture! Do you not see the power of a great story? Of a great movie?

Other creatures know to steer clear of the pretty things of the world. Humans feel the need to ignore those warnings, feel the need to touch even when we shouldn’t. 
Leave the beautiful things alone, they tell you. 
They speak the same things about fire.

I want you to have all of me. So I can have all of you.

Just like that, the shadow child learned that you don’t have to step into the light to find happiness. You just need to find the person willing to step into the gray area. 

How was I supposed to know what love felt like when I’d never been shown it? When I’d never been taught how to receive or give it?

We can’t predict the future, Alistair. And it’s okay to be afraid of that. Being scared doesn’t make you weak, letting it stop you does.

this was an interesting exposure to degrading, as much as this book mentions “i hate that i love it”. really crazy to think that i enjoyed it yet hated it. the plot included sensitive themes that may inflames triggers. i totally understand both sides of opinions. It either a hit or a miss. for the amount of mixed feelings i have towards it. definitely a grey area rating.
