Finally abandoning the effort to finish this book, which I started over a year ago. Much of the early material has been useful and entertaining, especially regarding nihilism, but the later parts have been an unnecessary rehash of the Overman and other familiar topics. I can't recommend this book for anyone but Nietzsche specialists. Read the finished books instead.

One of my favorite books, I find it impressive and moving, with brilliant characters, memorable scenes, and important messages for modern readers. The religious element does not please me, Rochester's deception is unforgivable, while the St John episode is mostly tedious. But these are minor issues.

Couldn't get into it, though Rorty is one of my favorite philosophers.
