Reading stories from this sporadically. I read the flower hat the other day. And Mishimas cynicism always gives me great comfort lol. Although he appreciated beauty. He was a man of constant critique. God bless him

So far this is one of the great literary achievements. Terrific writing. Terrific plot. And a true examination of us as a species. And the human condition overall.

Swept from the clouds

Don’t really want it to end. It’s magical. Melancholy. Surreal. And extremely bizarre at times. Just waiting for the wind up bird to wind its spring again.

Hemingway’s influence is apparent

Taking my time with this one. It’s long but I almost don’t want it to end. Mr wind up bird. When will you wind up that spring again?

The ruminations on the war are some of the best parts of this novel. The empty pit that’s left after experiencing such devastation and death. This one has everything I’ve loved from haruki and a bit more.

Un fucking real lmao. Haruki pulls no punches… the mystical meets the lonely.

Stumbled upon more Lorca at a bookstore here in New York. Certainly one of the greats. And translates by greats too!
