Lou Corn is starting On the Origin of Species and Other Stories
Looked past the bizarre forward about breasts (I’m pro but that was an odd ode) and read the first story with some interest. Reminded me of a west world episode arch. Could not get into the rest but that seems to be my trend with recently published scifi.

Lou Corn is reading The Thunder Before the Storm: The Autobiography of Clyde Bellecourt
Mostly irrelevant to my reading and feelings of the book but I will admit that I thought the whole time that Clyde relayed this account (note the memoir is “as told to”) to John Lurie, the actor artist tv personality guy. And was very curious about how that whole relationship happened. It is in fact told to Jon Lurie who is a journalist on the Native issues beat.

At this point, I resent the author's editor more than the author.

Sort of mind boggling how grief brings you closer to total strangers in a similarity of loss even as that lack stretches across very different contours. One minute I appreciate the texture of a certain moment, how familiar it feels, the next I am shocked I've felt it in a setting where people have the personal phone number of the NYT obituary writer.

I keep thinking I’m stumbling around the edge of a parade of acronyms but then I look up and realized I’ve also been totally absorbed in the story of worker experimentation.

I've described this book as both engrossing and mind-numbing....maybe that's sociology for you (also describes a lot of socialist org meetings now that I think of it). Still working my way through the massive middle chapter on Communal Councils and still recommending this book to almost everyone I talk to.
