DNF after 100 pages :(

The writing style just isn’t for me. Which is a shame since I really wanted to fall in love with this book and its captivating world of Filipino mythology.

So far so good, I always forget that books that have a rich world always have chapters that could be quite confusing. Also, I didn’t know that this book isn’f published yet!

goodbye cain and abel parallels you will be missed. hello part two.

after cathy ames’ introduction, i don’t know how i managed to find the strength to put this book down and sleep. still don’t know if i can actually manage it. i haven’t even slept and i’m already looking forward to picking this book back up in the morning. it’s THAT serious.

by god, the text on this is so dense. but three chapters in, i can see why this is a classic hailed as one of the greatest american novels of all time. can’t wait to eat it up. (also yes i’m reading east of eden in preparation of the new adaptation featuring mike faist)

my god these people are so insufferable. don’t know if i mean that in an affectionate or dergoatory manner yet. we’ll see.

I forgot just how much Backman makes me cry.
