A drag, really. It reads like an extended report of the author's research rather than a book, much less a novel (as claimed by one of the reviews printed in the book's beginning).The author's style is classic academic, dry, wordy, linear and just plain boring. Better to have been only a few dozen pages than the whole book. I finally gave it up, something I rarely do.

Dense reading, could have used better editing by the publisher.

Flight Behavior, by Barbara Kingsolver, weaves the lives of plain-living characters in a small, rural community together with the work of a renown entomologist in this story of a young mother of two and her journey of self discovery. The unexpected migration stopover of millions of Monarch butterflies sets it all in motion. Very good fiction that contains lots of scientific facts about Monarchs.

Finally read Olive Kitteridge, and it knocked my socks off. Small wonder it won a Pulitzer.
