Oh Bernhard.

FASCINATED by philology. I have made it to 27 without getting too bogged down in politics or philosophy and unfortunately it seems I’ll have to begin. Looks like I might have to use my brain UGH.

Am Too Stupid for this book.

Enjoying so far. Interesting approach to half-fictionalised memoirs. Main characters delightful, but strike me as Very English and probably wouldn’t go down with the American Sort

This is considerably more enjoyable than I was expecting. I think I might have to check out Ruth Cardello’s more serious works

I’m actually finding the pacing of this so interminably slow.

Ive met Basil Stag Hare! Him and Methuselah are fighting for my favourite character

I’ve seen a lot of people comment about how they don’t like a combination of either the pacing, the characterisation or the language in this. I disagree with all of them! I’m having a whale of a time!

I don’t like all the bits with Karla. I feel like Lin should’ve pined for a considerable amount and not just given her a snog on page 200. He was supposed to be experiencing the real India! Everything is setting itself up for a quest! And then he goes ohh Karla give us a kiss and that’s irritating.
Politicial intrigue, good, side quests good. I miss my friend Prakbaker something awful.
