IOOOOOOOOH WERE REALLY IN IT NOW

The writing itself really does keep moving your eyes down the page doesn’t it

I’m DNF-ing this because I really enjoyed what I read but it gave me such strange dreams

I’m at the bit where Marlow is lowk offended that the cannibals aren’t eating him. I can’t with this book it’s hilarious

I don’t like this book I think

This is draaaaaagging

Worryingly amusing so far

Oh Bernhard.

FASCINATED by philology. I have made it to 27 without getting too bogged down in politics or philosophy and unfortunately it seems I’ll have to begin. Looks like I might have to use my brain UGH.

Am Too Stupid for this book.

Enjoying so far. Interesting approach to half-fictionalised memoirs. Main characters delightful, but strike me as Very English and probably wouldn’t go down with the American Sort

This is considerably more enjoyable than I was expecting. I think I might have to check out Ruth Cardello’s more serious works

I’m actually finding the pacing of this so interminably slow.

In other news yay warbeak and Mattias are pals now!
As usual, I adore Basil Stag Hare and Old methuselah ❤️ love u guise

Matthias is regularly super irritating. Grating at times.

Anyway why do we hate sparrows??? I like Warbeak anyway

I’m actually finding quite a lot of this book irritating. Why does Matthias keep losing his temper

Ive met Basil Stag Hare! Him and Methuselah are fighting for my favourite character

I’ve seen a lot of people comment about how they don’t like a combination of either the pacing, the characterisation or the language in this. I disagree with all of them! I’m having a whale of a time!
