What a glorious, golden thing to be alive. What a wonderful, awful gift it was to leave things behind.

I’d lived so much of my life trying to keep moving forward, I forgot to pick up the bits people left behind and add them to the fathomless hole in my chest. In my mad dash to run, I’d packed too light. I forgot to carry them with me.

If I had to choose between getting stuck in a place or in my head, I wouldn’t know which was worse. Places could haunt you just as surely as people. Memories could trap you just as fast as the ghost of your best friend’s laugh. I think, though, I would choose a place. At least a place gave me somewhere to sit with my longing.

My husband doesn’t open the door. A woman does. I’ve never seen her before but there is something familiar about her. She looks a lot like me.

There is something special about @heyashposton and how she writes a good magical realism book. I'm currently at 23% and I can affirm that the descriptions are breathtaking. Everything feels magical and out of a children's book.

Maybe I had hallucinated all of it. The door, the garden, the man with the storm- dark eyes. That would have been a breath of fresh air. Wouldn’t it?

Am început să înteleg mai bine firul poveștii după ce am citit câteva capitole și din partea a II-a, cea din perspectiva lui Polly. Deși începutul a fost un pic mai lent, trebuie să recunosc că schimbarea vocii narative mi-a captivat atenţia.

I'm inhaling this book like a breath of fresh air.

Hot Scottish man singing in a hot, growly voice a sweet song about a father/ daughter relationship, meant for his recently traumatized daughter, so she’d know that no matter what, she had her dad to protect her.

But what’s the point of life without dreams, eh? Dreaming is something that makes the tragedy of our short lives worthwhile. No?

A shock wave rocks my body as I realise I'm staring at a scene that was described to me before.

Barbara is getting on my nerves

Mai am de citit aproximativ 50 de pagini din carte și încă nu am reușit să procesez ultimele capitole. La aceste răsturnări de situație cu siguranță nu m-aș fi așteptat.

Se împlinesc deja două săptămâni de când citesc această carte, dar nu regret că nu am grăbit ritmul. Au fost foarte multe detalii și am avut parte de un world building solid, ceea ce mă bucură nespus, mai ales atunci când vorbim despre un fantasy.

After meeting the two main characters, Audrey and Fraser, a tragic event occurs and leaves both the protagonits with "what if's". The narrative splits into two povs and Audrey and Fraser both imagine their own version of reality.

It's challenging to read a novel of this kind, as you have to keep up with two different scenarios, but it's so worth it! The emotional demage this has already done upon me is astounding.

Până în acest moment favorita mea este Nyx. Iubesc energia de "main character" pe care o emană, dar și spiritul protectiv pe care îl are față de Alexis.

Am fost puțin îngrijorată de faptul că nu îmi aminteam atât de multe lucruri legate de mitologia greacă, dar lucrurile par a fi destul de bine explicate în roman.

Începutul este promițător și sunt curioasă de cum va evolua firul narativ.

Îmi place foarte mult dinamica dintre Poppy și Alex. Aflăm de la început că sunt foarte buni prieteni, dar un eveniment din timpul unei vacanțe petrecute împreună îi face să se îndepărteze unul de celălalt.

Este o carte care te face să îți dorești să continui să citești, pentru a afla mai multe din spatele tensiunii dintre cei doi protagoniști. Până acum, pot spune că lectura este un succes.

Maybe this is what books do, she thinks – whether stories, real or imagined, or poems compiled in one place for people to flick through in search of what they need. They offer something universal but allow you to find your own meaning amongst the words. They are for everyone and yet they are for you too.

This book is so well written, it feels like a warm hug. Even though it's emotional, because it treats sensitive topics, such as loss, it makes you feel comfortable reading it. Maybe it is because the main character is trying to regain her confidence and do things by herself.

I'm only 50% in it, but if I could describe it in one word, that would be "beautiful". ❤️

have you ever cried while reading a thriller? no? cause I found myself tearing up when reading the last few chapters of this book. I guess this the effect Broken Country has upon one.
