SV is starting The Last Lecture
I'm quite enjoying the book! It is a pretty fast read and is very easy to read. I will say it did give me a little bit of anxiety bc that could be one of parents living their last few moments. However, I think Pausch did a great job of diverting the attention from death and very much on life. I will say the most obvious con so far is the writing style...its a little to basic. As in you can tell its by a CS prof.

I am about halfway down and I am really enjoying the book so far. The book is written wholly from the male perspective, which I think is very interesting.

SV is starting Today Tonight Tomorrow (Rowan & Neil, #1)
Chapter 1:
I will say that I love the cute text bubbles throughout the chapter. It gives a sense of modernness and relatability between the characters and the reader.

5. The job: she seems unqualified and she does have to give a formal job interview. Also its on a weekend...who is doing work and interviews on the weekend?
6. The apartment: she is literally in CA with barely any money and she gets an FULLY FURNISHED APARTMENT BY THE OCEAN for $1,000!!!!!!!!! The unrealistic aspects of the novel is making this book such a turn off to read!!

Her good luck:
1. She gets a plane ticket the moment that she walks in the airport
2. The cab person offers her a ride, becomes her friend, and gives her a place to stay at a motel.
3. The next morning she buys a car, gets a job, and finds a potential perfect apartment.
4. The car: her budget is $4000 and the car is really $5,500, but apparently if she gives the money in cash, she can buy it for 4K????

Okay I'm not too far in, but this book is already so bad! Like the main female character, Kinsley moves from Indiana to California because she finds her BF cheating. She decides to uproot everything, sell her car and buy a plane ticket for CA. Her good luck is just annoying and SOOO unrealistic, it beats Harry Potter.

So I am an Indian and although this book makes some very good points about how toxic and intrusive Indian societies can be, but the part that irks me is that my talking about how all this happens in the "mandhir" or the temple, Patel is not only talking about how Indian culture is toxic, but so is Hinduism... I will continue to read this book because I dont want to discredit the many similar struggles others share.
