Picked this up because I love Little Women not realizing it was YA. I typically don’t vibe with YA writing but so far so good here!

They are perfectly at ease with doing the wrong things for centuries and then expect congratulations for doing the right thing for a moment.

Memories live here and there in the body. But they’re invisible aren’t they? And no matter how wonderful the memory, it vanishes if you leave it alone, if no one pays attention to it.

Making my way through all of T Kingfisher’s books!

Only 50 pages in but wow this book packs a punch. Closing this book for the night and thinking about world building. We typically see world building commentary around fantasy books. Often those books are 500+ pages. I don’t think you need talent to build a world within that many pages. But man to have me feeling like I’m a part of this church in Mississippi in only 50 pages is some serious talent.

If Roxanne Gay gives 5 stars you know I’m going to read it
