Hearing “change the object of her affections” gave Yin Hanjiang pause, and after some thought, he said, “Affections that run deep enough can persist after reincarnation. It’s possible even Meng Po’s soup won’t be able to erase Baili Qingmiao’s obsession.”
“Is that true?” Wenren È glanced at Yin Hanjiang.
“It would be for me,” Yin Hanjiang said resolutely.

“IT WOULD BE FOR ME!!” 😩

“My heart gave a painful thump.
I might have loved him for that, I thought, if I hadn’t already loved him anyway. I did my best to tuck this thought away where it was safe from all the rest. This scrap of affection was mine.”

I would love it so much if we had Grimm's pov too.

“I do not think that kiss was meant for me.”

AAAAAAAA NO SHIT!! Leo my dearest, please don’t do that again, i nearly died from the shock 😩

“Grimm was casting my spellsong the way I’d always wanted to and could not.
In his mouth, the words took on new meaning, and the melody gained urgency. The song was alive. It made me feel alive too, in a different way than I had a moment before. I was not casting the spell, but my playing made me a part of it, and I wanted it to last forever.”

this scene was actually quite beautiful 😩

“This is how love ought to go. If this Venerable were to fall prey to a love tribulation, and the other party reciprocated, I would keep that person by my side forever. If they had no interest, then I would let them go. What dignity is there in clinging to someone?”

Yin Hanjiang listening attentively 👀

“Next time you try to take a hit for someone, even if there isn’t time to think, at least count down from three in your head before you rush in. You probably can’t manage to think before you act, but you can start by learning to count.”

bahahahha Wenren È is so fucking iconic, i can’t- 😂😂

“He understood all the words and sentences. He could even visualize what was described when they were linked together. But in the end, he just didn’t get it!”

LOL i’ll definitely be using this phrase in the future just because

“How did you recognize me that day?”
“[…] How could I not recognize you?”

they’re killing me!! 😩

🤯

“A life she would never have.
A life…she had lived.”

the anime vibes 🤌🏼

“Unfortunately, the Arbor Divinus was not immune to the much-despised but always-prophetic rule that all good things must come to an end. Those who first learned of the Arbor Divinus merely prayed to it. Later, it became the object of greed and impure intentions.”

So many revelations, yet so many questions still arising, and now we're dealing with probable time travel? I'm going to lose my mind. 🫨

aaaaaa wtf?? i NEED answers!!!!

“I never could have imagined that the day would come when you would ask me that… Isn’t that the kind of question a deposed god who fell from Urbs Caelestia and forgot everything would ask? To think I’d hear it from you…”

wait a minute…. 👀

‘Brother, I don’t know whether to thank you for life, or curse you for the death I’ve been denied.’

Okay, I know I’ve only read a couple chapters, but I’m already loving Janny Wurts’s writing; everything feels so lyrical and magical. And Arithon is a very interesting character—and, ngl, already a favorite?

not him flicking that sword to anyone who looks at his “charge” the wrong way 👀

But after a long while, Xiao Fuxuan said, “I don’t know what other people think of him, but to me, no matter what form he takes, he is someone I would never mistake for another.”

that’s.. intriguing… 🤨

“Though they were mere steps apart, an inexplicable longing, as expansive as life and death itself, welled up inside him. His gaze locked onto Xue Xian like a mountain’s immovable weight.“

i cant- 😩

“Some connections in this world defied explanation. Sometimes, the connections didn’t even have a clear beginning, yet they tugged at the heartstrings, seeped into the bones, and endured from youth to old age—unbroken for a century, unchanged for three lifetimes.”

“For a moment, Xue Xian felt as though his blood and bones were on fire, the heat threatening to burst through his skin. He could feel nothing else, not even where he was or what was happening around him. The only thing he remembered was that Xuanmin, someone he could trust, was by his side.“

omg i’m scared 😳

damn I’m a little afraid about the hints we’re getting related to Xuanmin's past and his possible real identity.. but oh, i am absolutely loving the banter, the subtleties in their interactions, and the growing TENSION!!! uh, chefs kiss 🤌🏼

I'm starting Vol. 2, but I still can't get over that scene in the first volume where Xue Xian practically went into a trance from nearly getting heatstroke and started chanting "Bald Donkey" over and over LOL he’s so unserious

Xue Xian is such a drama queen ok? but he’s so funny, every time he calls Xuanmin “Bald donkey”has me laughing 😂

ooh he’s so chaotic i love it

why do i feel a miscommunication plot approaching?? i don’t like it 😩

“The thought scampered through his mind like a frantic animal caught in a trap. Desperately, it beat itself against his ribs until his chest ached and he had no choice but to grab it by the scruff of its neck and lock it away in the deepest, darkest corner of his mind.
It was the first cowardly act of his life.“

Lu Wancheng looked back, using Lin Qingyu’s sleeve to wipe nonexistent tears from his face. “Younger Brother! Oh, my brother! Did you head onward to scout the way for me out of worry that I’d be lonely when my time came…?”
“Cry into your own sleeve.” Lin Qingyu yanked his garment back with slight distaste.

BAHAHAHHAHA LOL i absolutely adore these degenerates
