Okay finally my girl Joan can live her dream.... Maybe. Idk she's low key unlucky.

Skipped the chapter in home buying because my daddy bought me a house 💅🏻

Girl what is going on??? Where is this story going why are we describing every person Joan comes in contact with like .... It's just Joan and all these crazy white Californians dropping babies off and waking her up from her park naps. There's so much world building and we are a third of the way into the book.... Will the plot happen??? Kathy, where are we GOIN'?

What the absolute fuck am I reading????

Loki I kind of wish I read this before I was asked to read this for work. The narration is wonderful. I'm listening to it. As a former service worker, I'm enjoying the stories of how will and his team make people's days. Just a little bit better at restaurants. Also, hearing the little details that are used to just enhance the dining experience. Overall. I'm looking forward to finishing this

Omg omg omg we got to the essays about Mario Batelli or however it's spelled and his "sorry for the sexual abuse" cinnamon rolls and how it earned her a James Beard award AND the essay about Bros' (how I learned about DeRuiters existence) and the absolute fallout of that blog post. Insane. If I've learned anything, men will just tell women that they need to be assaulted and disposed of for having an opinion.

Omg the essay about choosing to opt in or out of children is my favorite. As a child free lady, it's refreshing to see older women and how they have handled that choice. She brings such a light to it, making it funny and sharing her husbands view. Ugh, I love you Geraldine. (Note: I have not opted out of adoption but that's later, I'm not settled enough. I just don't want to do pregnancy.)

It's engaging. The book is starting to Change the way I think. I've tried journaling in the past but it never stuck. The prompts this book offers seek more doable than some crystal girlie just saying "manifest it". This book is very down to earth.

A great read (or listen) for anyone who is doing a low spend/no spend 2025. It really wakes you up to HOW BAD the fast fashion industry is and how they prey on POC folks in other countries and women in industrial nations to spend spend spend.
