Apparently today is the day of verbose, self-important books that I have to review poorly. That wasn't nearly as painful as reading them though.

I never thought I could hate a Mussar book. I can. But I can't stop reading it because I want to learn about Mussar. But this is pompous-sounding philosophy, not mussar. It's more about the philosopher Levinas and how Mussar happens to line up with his philosophy (according to the author), but I really dislike what I know about Levinas' philosophy and believe it takes "caring for the other" way too far. Ugh.

I think I've read 6 books in the last 2 days. This is actually a problem. I need to stop hiding from the hospice and be with my mother. But that's...hard. And books are so...comforting.

I got this book from the library and had to stop at page 25. I wanted to highlight it so much that I've decided to put it on hold and get a copy for myself before continuing. First time that's happened!

Don't let my new "to reads" scare you. I'm not dying nor is anyone else (that I know of). I'm reading a really interesting book about death and it references lots of other interesting-sounding books about death.

I've read 57 books so far this year, out of my goal of 100 for 2013. Since being laid off last August, I've read 130 books. I'm currently reading 12 books. My name is Skylar, and I am an addict.

I'm never going to make a dent in the books I own if I keep getting free and nearly-free books by the dozens every few months.

It's a great book. But it will never end.
