A book I was sure I would love without having any real idea what it’s about but just based on reviews and vibes and I’m 70 pages in and I hate it…. I want to DNF but I have to push on to see what all the fuss is about.

6 hours and 39 mins in and I just don’t think I can do another 5.5 hours…
I would probably finish it I was actually reading it.
I hate the main character, I cannot differentiate any of the women. I don’t understand how he’s getting away with any of this? And I don’t feel like waiting to find out.

Why are people obsessed with this? It’s so boring on audio…

Who knew astronauts and a love story would be so good. I loved Joan so much for everything she did in this story 🫶

I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to bond with a wolf when there are so many opportunities to be killed/culled. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
This book was like Fourth Wing but with Dire wolves and less intense connections between the wolves and their riders and less spice between lovers.

I’ve tried 2x
But I take full responsibility for not knowing anything about a book before I pick it up.
I don’t know who Joan Didion is and I had to google the meaning of the title because after getting 1/3 of the way through I still wasn’t sure why it was called that.

So know having a better idea of the meaning of the title i realize this is maybe more for fans of Joan Didion.

🎧 Went into this totally blind. I didnt know any of this history, it was fascinating to learn about the haenyeo. Aside from that, this story was slow in some parts and overall pretty sad with one immensely heartbreaking moment. I don’t even know how to rate it … I’ll think about it

🎧 and suddenly I’m into vampires…I went in with very low expectations and somehow this is one of the best smutty fantasy books I’ve listened to in a while…👏 (4.5 stars? Dare I give it 5?)
