p sure this is mildred’s story and Andrew is out here falsely extolling his own acumen and elevating himself to the position of a financial savant; blah all the people erased in the narrative of building economic legacy; wouldn’t be surprised if she was calling the shots and then disagreed/he didn’t like the philanthropy so he committed her to a sanatorium and said she was crazy 🙄

shockingly appropriate that I was reading this on valentine’s day. very very feminist literature and for that alone (even if I hated this book, which I don’t) I’m gonna read the shit out of it to spite the man who implied literature written for women was ‘below him’ or lacking any depth/nuance and he simply didn’t care about understanding what it is trying to say. fuck you
