Not an easy read but a very physical and well realized story and setting. I'm just struggling with the writing style, vocabulary, and large cast.

A very twisted story about an abuse and rape victim that's dominated by male characters. The heroin isn't helpless but she is the only female character after 100 pages so I'm done. The guy with a pussy on his hand (not a joke) was the nail in the coffin for me. Weird sci-fi is fine but this gross to just be gross.

If you ever wanted to read the colorful musings of an old English entomologist obsessed with dung and dung beetles then this is the book for you!

Three delightful adventure tales set in an ancient China where gods, monsters, and morals dwell. The author obviously has much love for Chinese culture and folklore. The characters are vivid, memorable, and often both tragic and loveable. The writing style is smart, humorous, and well paced.

Except for the overly self-congradulatory introduction, miss-use of the word technology, and tendency to use metaphor and self-experince instead of fact it's a good book.
Has good insight and information on how to run an open event but falls short on digging deeper into why open events work. Also spends too much time on personal experience instead of technique and methods, which makes it entertaining at least.

There's a review on GoodReads that calls this "dick-lit" which is perfect. It's a book about a boy who becomes a man and is totally self absorbed, and women are mysterious and all want to sleep with him, and stuff.
However, my main complaint is that the author uses overly specific, and often archaic, words. Case-in-point: instead of "donkey" he uses "onager". Every tenth word is more trouble than it's worth.

Glad I reread it. The world building is stellar and while the plot takes awhile to build it's a wild and amazing ride.

Book 1 started Tuesday night, book 2 done by Friday night.

Because when I realized last night that working on my presentation wasn't going to happen during my late/early shift this seemed like a fine alternative.

This book is, as the NPR review said, "compulsively readable." I started it on the short plane ride home last night and I already know I'm going to finish it too soon.

A wild, and often confusing, but colorful, ride.

I paced myself over the weekend.

Very enjoyable!

Just as good the second time around.

Rereading because I'm supposed to do a book review or something.

Done! Just in time for the "book club" discussion tomorrow. Great book. Highly recommended!
