Took me a bit to get into but I like it, spooky and twisty

Annual reread of my favorite series, if I recommend nothing else please read these books

This is my third time trying to read this and coincidentally my third time feeling filled with regret about it. Probably a dnf, sorry Nick.

So far it's been about 100 pages of the type of philosophical conversation you have with that one cute boy in college who took philosophy 101 and now just won't stfu with a few "creepy" and deliberately vague bits intended to keep u reading. I'm thinking of ending things with this book tbh.

That I didn't assume pirates were also slavers is on me honestly. Forcing myself to read non-fiction and finding myself feeling lied to by jack sparrow.

Ok, I get the hype

This is a weird book, but the 70s were a weird time I guess.

Thiago's grief colors the narrative so organically and honestly. Loving the writing.

I think it's about to get better, but it's been a slowwwww burn. I'd like Hendrix novels more if they were shorter.

Enjoying the world building and the journey through the river realm.

The fact that the name Gewey (Gooey) for the main character made it past an editor is wilddddd
