i'm genuinely devouring this book stayed up past midnight WHICH IS CRAZY FOR ME to keep reading. side note but I really love that i'm back in my reading groove like yaasss. also this story is so tragic—the generational trauma, the radicalization of young men, the SHAME that women have but the HONOR men have—like it's all so real yet devastating. curious as to where this book will leave us

picked this up on a whim at the library cause I love elif shafak but I can already tell this book is going to change my life… also I have been interested in exploring the concept of an honor killing since I watched (but didn’t finish) al-rawabi on netflix

this book is probably way too sophisticated for me to understand... but telling the story of younghye through the men that abused her and not actually her is a bit genius, and I think we'll get her perspective in the last part

this book gave me the craziest dreams a few weeks ago btw
