Absolutely mesmerized by this book 💛 I want to read everything Elena Ferrante has ever written

Me: Give me a story about the complexities of being a woman in 1960s Naples and I will.

Started the Neapolitan novels when I was in Greece last year, it only makes sense to continue the tradition in 2026.

I am appreciating it now more than the first time I read it.

Emily Wilson has done an amazing job with the introduction. It's divided in parts that are easy to follow and it offers invaluable insight into the debates about when, where, and by whom the work was originally written. I also appreciate that there's an entire subchapter explaining the role of the feminine characters in the book. I'll go out on a limb thinking that the classic translators of yore overlooked that.
