Tried an audiobook for the first time, and this book was truly made for one. There’s so much character and personality in the way Hurston has written the dialogue for her characters.

The guests assuming Dantes is a vampire is so real. He is shrouded in mystique, simply by the way he enters the room, eats in such small amounts, a supernatural element would’ve been very interesting

Tell me why i’m suddenly starting to ship Connell and Marianne 👀. The part after Connell gets robbed, calls up Marianne (because that’s the only number he memorises *swoon*), and enters her home. You can truly see how in love they are with each other, with the additional amusing banter.

I feel awful for Marianne. Not only is she surrounded by the shittiest friends, her home life is no better. Her brother’s is an ass, spitting on her? What kind of “sibling rivalry” is this? Protect my baby Marianne at all costs !!

So, I’m not a big fan of Connell :/
Like I get it’s high school & we don’t know much about Marianne, but why are you so ashamed to be seen with Marianne?

I’ve just started the novel and there’s no quotation marks…? It’s a tad bit confusing to read.
