I REALLY want to love this but it feels like the author wrote it and then went back through with a thesaurus and changed two words per sentence in order to make the prose more interesting and unfortunately they have achieved the opposite effect

can’t get over this girl being like omg I’m what he calls a WHITE woman?? what does he mean by that?? and then him regularly saying hm my people all want to assault white women. it’s in my nature. Johanna Lindsey… you and all your peers were wild for this particular trope. i see the “savage _____” romances all the time but I hadn’t dared to read one until now. I imagine they’re all like this.

“if he had come across her six years ago, he would have simply ridden off with her and made her his. but he was ‘civilized’ now and so couldn’t follow his natural inclinations anymore.” is CRAAAAAAAZY

we’re in for a ride i can already tell. well actually i could tell from the first page. whew.

unfortunately this has been incredibly underwhelming so far. great idea but sloppily written. I wanted to love it so I’m hoping the second half saves it for me!

I’ve been holding off on reading this since I bought it because i wanted to read it when it was wintery out and today, years later, there’s snow on the ground. It’s time.

as a bald girlie, this woman is SO dramatic. fuck off girl.

this is not fair to this book because i honestly KNOW i won’t like it and im reading it anyway but i have a deep morbid curiosity and feel the need to not only be a hater, but a justified one.

I’m honestly liking this but it’s paced incredibly strangely and I think that if I weren’t listening to the audiobook I would have DNFd by now.

it’s time for my favorite part of the year- hate reading yet another riley sager. will this be one of the few that are so dumb they’re fun or will it be yet another waste of time slog of a novel? can’t wait to find out.
