This book is wonderful! Sybil’s letters tell a story that is her story both in the past and present in her letter writing. Love all the different types of people she writes to. Although Sybil is confident, and smug at times, she feels determined to help others to the letter of the law. Even though she regrets being so stubborn, and acknowledges it through her writings. She’ll have your back without fail.

Im still trying to get into it.

Great writing on the history of the Sackler family, and all their dirty shenanigans on building their family’s fortune through addictive medications.

The book is very mysterious, and almost half way through the book, I’m still learning about the plot line and the characters. Elstoy has many cliff hangers in the book.

Bubbe to Sadie, “ Always remember, mine Sadie: life is very long, unless it is not.” Sadie knew this to be a tautology, but it also happened to be true.

Sadie is very interesting and intelligent. She sees things differently than Sam.

The characters are really interesting! Especially, Sadie, and the way she sees the world.

The book is really good. The history of WWll from how Hitler’s rise to power to fighting fascism in Spain is eye opening.
