Ive read the first story - the farmer's daughter. Sarah is a brilliant character - resilient in the face of extreme adversity to the point that the difficulties she faces as a 15 year old seem really understated. A poignant story of love, neglect, sexual abuse, revenge and loneliness that portrays the power of friendship and the importance of being accepted in a community. Lots to ponder on in this story.

This book is written in first person, and is surprisingly simple in its descriptions and actions. The characters could do with some further development as could descriptions of physical space. The author builds tension carefully and maintains interest. I would have liked more grit but perhaps that is yet to come. The author recounts a superficial but interesting tale that needs more depth to create suspense.
