40% in - I really don't get the hype around this book. What am I missing?! I adored "All Rhodes Lead Here", but this?

What the hell am I reading... I've no idea what's going on, but I'm loving every minute of it.

The beginning was really bad. The middle is meh. I'm guessing that by the end the "meh" will change into "huh". The story itself is ridiculous, but I decided to let it go for the time being.

I'm really really REALLY sick of Feyre's "curling toes" every time she's intimate with Rhys. Can Maas find some other physical response to arousal than "curling toes"?!

Oh look, it gets kind of interesting. Who would have thought.

Is Tamlin based on Wolverine!?

Well... I might have truly enjoyed this book when I was 13. However, being 31, I find it hilarious. Not necessarily in a good way. I would not say that it is terrible, but it definitely could have been better. The premise is quite interesting, but everything falls apart when the main character is taken to the Fae world. Supposedly, there is an explanation for everything at the end of the book. We'll see...

Giving it another go. Maybe I missed something...

Ok, I don't know how many times I've started it, but I always find that the magic system is too complicated for me. So colours just shoot from the characters' bodies. And they become solid and turn into objects. Is that right? I've no idea, I'm about 100 pages in of the Polish translation (I usually read in English but this time I failed miserably) and, so far, I'm very much meh about it.

Does Eliana really need to be so annoying? How she came to be known as the Dread of Orline is just beyond me. She's just a brat with knives which have names and she can't even use them properly.

OMG, OMG, OMG... This is really happening!

The first couple of chapters may be hard to get through. Once you're through, however, you find yourself sucked in and halfway through the book. Good stuff.

I'm about 1/3rd into it and though I'm enjoying it, Kaz reminds me of "Final Empire's" Kelsier too much. Bit bothersome...

I gotta say, this is going to be a challenge. I would very much love to read the whole series, but considering that it consists of 14 volumes, each about 700 pages, this is very intimidating. However, so far it reminds of the good old days when I was a kid discovering how such dense writing could take me to some unknown world and how exciting that was. Now, being 31, I treasure that feeling.

Goodness, it's full of tropes, relations between characters change suddenly and at times quite inexplicably, character development is in shambles, but still, this is a very engaging novel. I'm having a great time.

Let's see what all this fuss is about, eh?
