Unbelievable. The most boring and aggravating book I’ve encountered in years. I am 75% into the book and a) I have no idea what’s going on, b) almost literally nothing has happened. All it is is the endless repetition of the nonsense thoughts of a confused girl. Over and over. Never progressing to any understanding of anything. Never giving the reader any reason to care. Don’t torture yourself.

I was expecting a fantasy and so far (30%) it’s more like “Little Women”. I am sooo bored. Nothing has happened so far. If I’d wanted to read about ladies fretting about a new dress for the ball and the unwanted attentions of creepy men I would have read Jane Austen. It had better improve or I may DNF it.

It just hit me: the Cold War never ended for Putin and now he is winning.

The generals and politicians have been outflanked by the spies; the field moved from territory to “cyberspace”—the “consensual hallucination” arising from interaction with information networks.

Cyberwarfare isn’t only about hacking machines, it’s also about hacking reality. When you hack discourse, you create truth. And Putin is good at it.
