I love the spiraling and the constant contradictions of what she is saying. The way the main character constantly tries to justify her behavior is what makes the story so appalling and real. The story and writing is so captivating. I really can’t wait to see where the story ends up.

Only on the third chapter and I’m captivated. I’ve already learned so much.

I can understand Nao’s mentality because his whole identity was based on his father, Baek Isak. So, discovering that his supposed father was in fact not his father his identity crumbled. He found himself lost in the idea of being Korean and a bad one at that. He did not allow himself to grow beyond what he claimed his blood was. It was hard to see him put himself into this labelled box.

Had to put the book down after page 385. There was no end to my shock. My jaw dropped.

This book is so beautiful.
