Brilliant! These stories make me interested in SF once again.

Ted Chiang's stories are as imaginative as they are profound. The concepts are always clear, and they are well grounded in science and philosophy, but the writing is sometimes bland, and one almost wishes for a richer and more immersive experience even though the sentences are almost minimalistic.

Very easy to understand common sense language.

Starts well, the headings are quite good, but the humor is sometimes annoying.

Nice bit-sized summaries of key math concepts, unifies several themes from number theory, sets, series, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, logic and proof

Nice history of feuds between mathematicians. BTW congrads to Terence Tao, and watch out for the new Frontier prizes.

Argues for a digital humanities, interesting ideas, familiar authors, but difficult to read.

The cover looked like a good idea at the airport bookshop. The major sections are serious enough, and there are plenty of jokes, but the formula doesn't really work because the jokes do go that deep into the issues under discussion.

Covered physics from Einstein's relativity to Heisenberg's Quantum mechanics. Bryson keeps it interesting with fascinating characters, simple descriptions, analogies, and keeping it very short, suitable for those with limited attention span. For the scientific audience, it summarizes what we already know about science, but adds some anecdotes of scientists to give a dash of personality.

Started from cosmology, now at geology. Interesting scientific personalities, but there might be some inaccuracies with the science.
