Yep, this is a depressing journey into what happens when people take advantage of you; between the spite and the discontent of the majority of the family to Gregor's hints at internalized guilt, it's very accurate.

I thought I would be getting more talk about classics than I would talk about Mary Beard. If you're going to make a memoir, put something on the cover or summary about it being a memoir. (Can you tell I'm not a big memoir fan?)

I can already tell that this is going to be a good commentary on burnout. Plus the whole "people only like you when you're useful to them" thing hits home.

This is very poetic, and does an excellent job creating an apocalyptic feeling to it. I do think, however, that this would be better experienced on the stage than read since a lot of the stage notes fall flat to me.

The female narrator is hilarious.

I'm having an existential crisis about Goodnight Moon and I'm loving it.

As someone who has dealt very closely with the subject of death in the past two years, I'm interested to see how Gawande broaches the subject in this book from the perspective of someone actively in the medical field.

In this set of short stories, the first two so far have been so-so, but the third one is currently pretty good.

Every minute that passes in this audiobook, I hate the main characters more. West? Fine. Bash? Interesting. Gemma and Ford Sr.? Love them. Ford Jr and Rosie? Can't stand them.

Wow, we're 75% of the way through and we're finally getting our, what? Fourth mention of West? The catalyst of the problem of the relationship building? This book doesn't know what it wants its trope to be. Is it frenemies? Is it boss-employee? Is it best-friend's-sister? Couldn't tell you.

This book has a lot of personality. The characters don't, but the book does.

For a book based around the "best friend's little sister" trope, there's been a significant lack of the best friend in the story so far.

I feel like I know where this is going, and I don't know how the author is going to extend the plot to fit another seven hours worth of audiobook.

I am literally 4% through the audiobook and I am already PULLED IN.

I think I would like this book a lot better if I didn't absolutely despise the second male lead. Maybe it's because of prior experience with alcoholics, but I cannot stand this man.

Oooooh I hate Mike with a burning passion right now. What a dirtbag.

This is so flippin' cute.

I gotta say, I'm not a fan of how this book equates standing up for yourself to bullying.
