LOVE that Fitz keeps being blamed for all of the Fool's actions

With each trilogy focused on Fitz and the Fool, I dislike the Fool more and more until this final book when I have come to loath him and how he hurts and manipulates all those that considered him friend for a "Greater Good." Just fucking communicate. *throws up hands*

Bah. I forgot just how large the age gap was. There are REASONS, but I still don't care for age gaps especially this much.

Why did I decide rereading Herald-Mage was the answer to wanting to read a Choosing. This was not the comfy, wholesome vibes I was aiming for even though I KNEW it wouldn't be 😅 It has been ridiculously long since I've reread this trilogy though

Not me sniffling over the departure of a beloved cat and then truly crying when another comes to console an absolutely devastated person over that loss.

Goodness, I got hit in the feels over the new Heralds very first heroics and teamwork. I have (re)read a fair bit of Valdemar books over the last several months, but it's been a while since I've (re)read a Choosing and enjoyed the simple and wholesome work of the Heralds.

Okay, okay. This isn't a prediction but outcomes I can read into what has been setup so far and what I wouldn't mind seeing. Elena ascends as Queen, her father being sacrificed to the Flame. Yassen is the Prophet acting as voice and tool to Elena and her consort Samson. Elena, Samson, and Yassen all love each other and we get a poly ruling power trio. I suspect I'm most likely going to be disappointed but I can hope.

This chapter was disgusting. Just because a person's body reacts to sexual stimulation does not mean they have consented when semi-conscious through drugs and sickness.

I've been sitting at this page for over a week and I'm not feeling terribly compelled to pick it back up...

The constant side ramblings are incredibly distracting from the actual story so I'm finding it difficult to get into this book 🙄

Oxycotin is the brand name of oxycodone and wouldn't exist in a fantasy world?? Why are we using a pain reliever in this context??

The reevers sure feel a lot like witchers with Odrin being Geralt and Amaris (with her pale hair) being Ciri. This isn't a criticism as there are enough differences in the story as a whole to not be the same and I enjoy the stoic older man being a protective fatherly figure to the talented slight young girl.

I just need to hug all of these children and protect them from everything. 🥺

Turns out my library has a physical copy of this book, so I picked it up and have returned to reading it. Just over 100 pages left so let's see if I can finish tonight.

My audiobook returned itself this afternoon and the wait list is long... again. So this current read is on hold unless I want to buy it. 😩

I never did read Artemis because I was so damn worried it wouldn't measure up to my love of The Martian. I picked up Project Hail Mary because the space survivalist plot was similar enough The Martian to hit the mark. So far Project Hail Mary is living up to The Martian veeery well. 🥰🥺

Y'know my brief review of Godsgrave and the criticism therein? I'm laughing at myself rn. I'm not surprised with how well the twists are written, but also I didn't expect this twist so soon lol

I prefer the passages around the golem, but the jinni's past is also interesting. What will likely be the primary conflict is building and I'm intrigued how these threads will weave together. Yet the pacing is very slow so I am not likely to reach for it.

The cast keeps getting larger and larger and I'm intrigued how thus is going to all weave together. 🧐

I was a good 1/3 of the way through this before I learned about its problematic qualities. The book was on my radar bc Amazon suggested it to me awhile back while hunting for books with asexual characters (& also bc I've read RWARB), so when I saw it on the shelf at my library I took it home. Even before having the problems highlighted for me I had issues, so I'll share my thoughts when I finish. ✔ out the reviews.

Anyways, "fizzy rom-com" my ass. Ridley is dealing with some SHIT and I feel like this may still be a romance, but not too comedy.

Apparently my fantasy is fine and all, but I want something light and easy. 🤷‍♀️ I've been looking forward to picking up one of Hibbert's books, so when I saw this on the new shelf, I knew it was coming home with me. 😊

There are too many politics and moving parts to not have a heckin map. Literally my only complaint with this book so far 😅
