“I took medication after medication, but the rain cloud stuck with me. It wasn’t until my bipolar diagnosis and a new cocktail of Lamictal, Trileptal, Buspar, and Perphenazine, that I began to feel like myself— whatever that meant. See, I had been depressed for so long that I wasn’t sure who I was. General descriptors still seemed accurate— Nigerian American, artist, writer, forever mentally ill.”

Honestly, I’m only listening to this on audio because Rebecca Lowman, my OG favorite narrator, is narrating it.

"Then you'll have to talk to her answering service and tell a stranger that you're crazy. Can't bear the thought of Dr. Singh calling back, voice tinged with sympathy, asking whether I'm taking the medication every day. Doesn't work anyway. Nothing does. Three different medications and five years of CBT later, and here we are" - Aza

Weird. Not very far into this book, however I've stumbled across a quote (a poem by Robert Service called The Cremation of Sam McGee) in this book and the last book I read, a book I chose at random and that is in no way connected to this novel.

This book is reminding me of Scared Stiff, a middle grade book by Willow Davis Roberts. I loved that book when I was younger.
This book is SO good and fast-paced. I can't wait to finish it, and yet I don't want it to end!

Oh my gosh. This book is incredible in so many ways. Honesty, wisdom, the deepest love...went into this book and emanates from this book.

Lydia is reading Extraordinary Means
"Here's a secret," I said. There's a difference between being dead and dying. We're all dying. Some of us die for ninety years, and some of us die for nineteen. But each morning everyone on this planet wakes up one day closer to their death. Everyone. So living and dying are actually different words for the same thing, if you think about it."

Marie Kondo is...amazingly neat, but also slightly crazy sounding! I found that reading this book was very inspiring, it some of the idea Marie suggested were a bit much. A fun and encouraging read!

this book is like a mirror image of "We Were Liars". I think anyone that had a problem with the style in which "We Were Liars" was written will enjoy this book a bit more.
