Well ...I liked the atmosphere. Very cozy mystery.
I did not like the amount of characters as it got very confusing keeping track of them by the ending.
I also do not like Phryne sleeping with every available man, especially as she is supposed to be in a relationship with Lin Chung.
But I did enjoy this book, overall.

A weaker entry in the series. I found some of it so avant garde that it was not believable. Too comic in spots.

Good book. Takes places from 1890s to world War 1.

My only complaint is that it seems highly unlikely that after she was raped, the leading lady would not only get on with life with nary a care in the world, but that she would raise the son of her rapist as though he were like her other two boys. And his white dad didn't notice he was darker and looked like an Indian?
