Idk if I think the twist was good or stupid. I’m feeling duped which is the point but jeez Louise. I kinda wanna rate it a 4/5. It was super interesting tho and I read it faster bc I was like what’s gonna happen!!! But also the narration was soo hard for me to get through bc the character is insufferable 😭

This book was so good!! I have been on a multiple pov kick. This book was sad in ways I didn’t expect and didn’t end up being what I thought it would be about at all. The complicated family dynamics made this book so interesting. Also loved it being the perspective of a wasian family in the 70s

A very quick read, not the best writing on earth. All the characters were a little wacky. I liked the multiple pov structure though. Learned some Spanish words (and curses 😬). I loved the emphasis on family, didn’t so much like the emphasis on romantic relationships.


I rate it a 3.5.
