So far I don't really like any of the side characters, and Lindon is okay enough. Not much to say.

This book has such jarring plotholes. You need some immense suspension of disbelief to read this.

The short notes at the beginning of each chapter is a nice addition. Really adds to the mystery. I want more of Kaladin 😭

NGL, lowkey surprised that one of the main characters is an actually decent person. You don't get too much of that in high fantasy novels. Kaladin is very cool. I do hope things get better for him though. Really don't mind the insanely slow pacing for once. I also just realized I've never finished a high fantasy series before.

I feel like I'm too old for this.

Reading this book felt like trudging through quicksand.

I genuinely do not understand what the point of this has been. The prose really does not convey the emotional depth at all IMO. It's so dry as opposed to its subject. Deciphering this book feels like scouring through a dilapidated mansion without knowing what I'm looking for.

The prose is killing me. Everything is so cryptic and so hard to decipher. Such a pain.

Finally done with this lame excuse for a high fantasy novel. (I just have high standards, it was ok)

I hate this book so so much, I'm only planning on reading this to the end because of the sunk cost of already having read 570 pages, but lord is it stupid. The entire thing reads like a movie script. At least I have enough critique to write a very long review. *sighs*

Locke is a lot more underwhelming than I thought he'd be, but I think it's more of a conflict with my tastes rather than bad writing or anything like that. The tone's too grim and doesn't have the we-are-gonna-save-the-world energy that usually comes with it.

Chatgpt told me to picture Nikolai as Tom Hiddleston and it's going great.

I don't think the premise interests me at all tbh. There's barely any magic and the stakes are way too low. Although I suppose readers with a penchant for such stories, it's pretty well written.
