I’d love to talk about this book, unfortunately everything about it is spoilers.

The end of part 1 came at just the right time, as I was stuck between moving on to the next dungeon crawler Carl book and just pushing through. The events that occurred saved the entirety of the first half of the book.

“I look up into the wrath of doom in the form of gold-flecked onyx eyes” and “I made no such promises” saved this book in my opinion. We’ll see how the rest goes!

It’s been a struggle so far unfortunately. I honestly can’t with how many things “threaten” to happen. “My bile threatens to expel from my stomach”, “my heart threatens to stop” “my throat threatens to close”.

I like the story and I think it’s really cool where it’s going, and the characters are starting to get really cool, but the prose threatens to make me DNF.

Man this book is so much fun. Not much more to say than that as of right now. Great little pallet cleanser going from devastating endings to high fantasy series to just being able to laugh. Reminds me of Project Hail Mary in that regard. Series at times, but a simple yet fun premise and very entertaining characters.

10 chapters left. How bittersweet this feeling is. Diving into a 2.3 million word series was not something I ever anticipated for myself but boy am I glad I did. Alas, all things must end. And Odium’s champion?!!! Wtf…

This book is interesting so far. Bit of an overused trope of the “unlikely princess is sent to be married to an evil overlord to prevent war” as of right now, but the magic system seems really unique and colorful (pun intended). Very interested in Vasher and Nightblood considering I know them from the Stormlight Archive.

Currently reading 2 “final” books of Sanderson series at the same time and I’m noticing a pattern. He does a very good job of beginning the series with human problems, and growing them into overwhelming gods vs humans issues where all hope consistently seems lost. I’m nearing the end of this book, and the same thing with wind and truth, he continues to pose more questions than answers.

This book is absolutely awesome so far. SO MANY characters and all of their arcs unfolding all throughout Roshar has been awesome to read, I’m excited to learn where they all go.

Best prologue in the series by far. Each book’s prologue is a recollection of the same night through different points of view, and we now finally have the answers.

The impending doom that ends the Well of Ascension and begins this book is awesome. The entire plot of this book can be seen developing throughout the 2nd book while everything else is happening, so these plot points flow perfectly into the Hero of Ages. I am very excited.

Alright this book is awesome. I thought it was a really good idea to use memory loss in the way that Andy has, using it as a narrative tool that offers answers and solutions at the correct time as memories come back. I can’t help but feel like this is the position Walter White had been in had he decided to apply his genius properly. Teaching Rocky English has been hilarious.

Okay… I just had to. I intended on reading Yumi and the Nightmare Painter in between Mistborn books, but while I’m reading Yumi, all I find myself thinking of is the Hero of Ages. I’d be doing myself a disservice to BOTH series if I put it off any longer, so here I am finishing the original trilogy of Mistborn. SPOILERS -

“Marsh struggled to kill himself” is a banger of an opening line. I can’t wait.

The more I read this book the less I understand the hate. This book is constant pressure, constant backstabbing, constant questions with hints of answers.

I don’t understand the hate surrounding this book. Granted I’m only halfway through, but the constant growing tension of the siege of Luthadel has me gritting my teeth at the slightest sound. Mistborn was fantastic and nothing was happening, we knew eventually the heist would be underway, but nothing, not even time was constraining them. This book has a CONSTANT worry looming overhead, I’m having a great time.
